for the sake of getting a numerical answer, we'll assume that the ball is pitched at the same height as the fence. Vx = x velocity, Vy, etc.

t = 2 Vy / g


d = 2 Vx Vy /g


Vx = V cos(a)


Vy = V sin(a)


cos(45)*sin(45) = 1/2

V = sqrt(dg)
